What is Uncle Mikey's World?

In the beginning

About ten years ago (2010) Uncle Mikey's World was founded on nothing more than hopes and dreams and one truly magical hat. Although, I have yet to share the origins of the hat, for it has become one of our fans biggest curiosities. The best quality the hat possesses is that it unites spirits, sets a positive vibe and is used by many people I have never met as a location device...

Rebuilding to last

In 1993 when my friends from high school and I started travelling the East Coast to follow the Grateful Dead, we were suddenly struck with tragedy by the loss of lead guitarist, Jerry Garcia. Our tight bonded group slowly fell apart as people went on to college, started careers, got married and had children. I slowly started to rebuild a solid core group of die hard "Rock 'n' Rollers".

After hitting several shows and meeting new people from all over the country, I realized that I was hanging out with people about ten years older than me. They introduced me to their friends, who were a little older than them. Being the youngest, I made some friends who were a few years younger than me, who introduced me to their friends, who were a few years younger than them (18 year old rookies). The age gap between us was large, and the knowledge and experience formed through this generational gap were things you can't put a price tag on.

Dancing in the streets

The reality of what was happening, was that we eventually built a large network of friends, ranging in ages from 18 years old to 70 years old. A huge group of younger and older people from all over the country and world, were all helping each other to have not only a better time at a show, but enriching their everyday lives as well. Everyone had the same spirit, "Bring on the DEAD!!"

The Magic Hat

Then, enters the Magic Hat. Its greatest trick was its ability to bring hundreds of fans and friends together as one. The hat helped to unite such a large group of people and create friendships and contacts across the country. This is how Uncle Mikey's World came about. I wanted to be able to share these life experiences (that of a life of a band on the road), and to hopefully be able to teach kids some of the valuable lessons that I learned, such as Geography and American history, and hopefully encourage them to respect and get involved with music themselves.

Uncle Mikey's World is a children's book series consisting of eight books for children, and adults, of all ages. They are broken up into two; four book series. Each book has a coloring book to compliment it. So come meet our band "The Candlewood Rock", follow us on tour, meet new characters, old rock legends and travel to places from the classic rock songs we know, love and grew up with. Songs that have helped millions through good times, bad times, fun times, interesting times and all the the times you can think of. These books are meant to be fun in nature for all ages, especially the kid in you...!!!
